S10 96 Blazer. Voltage to high
Hi there,
First of all. I am new here and also Dutch, so please forgive me when I translate my question/problem wrong. If you dont understand me please ask for more information. Two weeks ago I found out that my Blazer was holding back during driving. Now I know that my tubes for the vacuum whewre not ok. I replaced them with new. This didn't solve the problem. Trying to find the problem my alternator stoppped working. I didn't have enough spare time so I brought the car to a carrepairshop. The holding back was a exhaust silencer that was rotten inside, and the rust was blocking the exhaust. The alternator was repaired by shop for alternators and starting motors. The exhaust silencer was grinded open, rust removed and welded again So The car was ready and I picked it up. For a few miles the car did drive perfectly on roads in town. When I got out of town and could drive a bit faster I gave my pedal a push down to make some speed and then it happend. 1. The car seem to shut down but the motor kept running. 2. The gauge for voltage went over the 14Volts (later measured at 16 Volts.) and the rpm was swinging between low and higher rpm. The lights where dancing on the swinging of the motor RPM 3. When I pushed the accelerator the motor was holding back, no power and the gauge went far over the 14 Volts. I drove home on very low speed not to let the rpm (read Volts) getting to high. I called the mechanic to pick up my again again. He did but cant findt it so far. Alternator was measured and no problem, I put in a new battery. (Was old one) but stil no sollution. I hope somebody here can get me an answer for the problem so I can pass it on to the mechanic, I miss my car :( and maybe he can repair it. He is not a specialist for US cars but maybe with your help he can repair it. It is a Chevrolet Blazer '96 4.3v6 S10 (according to my registration it should be a T10. But read somewhere htat a T10 should have 4WD and this one doesnt). I Made a video of what I saw on the dashboard at that time and will send it to I hope you can help me, Regards Rene |
OK
Sorry for late reaction but problem is solved. Compagny again took the time to repair the alternator and this time they also changed more. The car now already drives 4 months without any problems Regards Rene |
Glad to hear you have your vehicle fixed!
