Security light
 

I'm new to this forum; am I going about this right?
I have searched the forums as far as I can but haven't found an answer.
My question is: my 99 Blazer 4x4 2-door has had the security light on since I purchased it in October 2018. My concern is, does this mean I might be stranded some dark rainy night far from home with a non-functioning fuel pump?

I am still searching for wiring diagrams to find out how the Forum-mentioned fixes (yellow wire spliced into orange/brown wire with a 2.2k ohm resistor between, while the engine is running) actually work. Does the Blazer Forum have a library of such things?

Before you attempt to bypass the system, I would look into the ignition switch as it could very well be the source of your problems and bypassing the security symptom may only cover up the problem until it becomes worse later on to the point of leaving you stranded somewhere. I created a thread quite some time ago (Anatomy of the Ignition Switch) detailing what can go wrong with the switch and some of the methods for testing the circuits involved. If you determine that the ignition switch is at fault, there are some Tech Articles that will walk you through the replacement procedure.

I think the article you mention is the one that seemed to have gone awol when I looked for it.
BTW, I have impatiently gone ahead and done the resistor bridging thing with no (touch wood) adverse events. The security light is still on, though.
Perhaps your wiring diagrams will have the answer to my question about what also triggers it.
