Question very odd problem

Well when i put my 96 blazer from park to another position on the shifter column shift by the way, The rear window will act as if i push the pop button and will open the window so i have to get out and close it , anyone out there ever had this problem before it seems really odd to me and cant even think of where to start looking at how to fix it? if anyone has heard of this before i would love to hear about how it was fixed, I have to go tomorrow to fix a couple other problems like a tps, power to the d/seat and will check into this issue but i dont really know where to start looking.

I have the same problem. I have yet to find the spot that is causing this problem. but the rear windshield fluid line runs down the drivers side kick pannel and running boards with all the wires (friggn geneius.). with all the wear and tear in and out if the drivers seat the hose can wear a whole. thus leaking washer fluid onto wires and slowly eating away at the sheilding..... creating a ground for the rear window actuator, or reverse lights, or park lights , brakelights , wiper, anything in the back with a wire. tear out ur stomp pads along the drvers side find and trace the washer fluid hose and find a wet spot. take each wire in the bundle (depending on level of corrosion) and either electical tape, heat shrink or replace leingth of wire to isolate from others and ground. dont forget to give the affected area a sponge bath to neutralize any leftover acidity. hope this helps.

if its anything like my jimmy's reverse lights issue - just wouldn't work no matter what and it wasn't the bulbs - chances are you need a new neutral safety switch. (its attached to the side of the trans and when u shift the vehicle into reverse it sends signal for the lights) have fun pulling the plugs out if its the NSS.... they like to melt the glue that is all thru them RIGHT onto the plug so effectively gluing it in. BEST way to remove them is to get a little buatane torch and heat around the plugs to melt/soften the glue up while putting "pull" pressure on the wire/connector so it pops out as soon as it can.

sorry for thread jack - but back on topic, sounds like a wire that runs around the same point as your rear hatch's wiring has worn thru and is shorting against the shift assembly's setup.
