Default Wires Through the Firewall?

Where is a good place to run the wires through the firewall for a switch?

Use a relay when you wire them so that way you don't have to run heavy gauge wire all the way into the cab. I have several lights on my truck and I drilled a new hole to run my wires through and went to advance and picked up a pack of grommets for $3 to protect the wires from the sharp edges. They really aren't hard to install like pj said just find a spot that you like and mount them and then run your wires. As for legality look up your state laws should be easy to find with a google search.

If you're not too fond of drilling through sheet metal, there is a big unused rubber grommet under the dash just above the footwell of the passenger's side. Good luck!

If I'm not mistaken, if you just pop your head down in the footwell, you should be able to see the grommet. As far as getting to it from the engine bay, just cut a tiny hole into it from inside and poke a wire coat hanger through to A.) See where it's at, and B.) Have a way to pull the wires through.

Hope I helped.

Nope, not an old one, mine's a 2000. But I did just go out and look, and I forgot to mention you do have to pull the carpet down just a little bit (my bad), and I thought it was unused, but it looks there is one wire running through it.

Here's the normal view

And here it is with the carpet pulled back. The circular black thing is what you're looking for

I believe that is the antenna wire for the radio, that is where I ran the power wire for my sub through.

Oh, is that what it is? I WISH I would have known about it when I did my system, but I somehow missed it then and ended up running my power wire through the driver's side door grommet. Oh well lol
