97 silverado 4x4 fuel pump issues
have a 97 chevy 1500 5.7 vortec, about two yeaars ago i ws driving down the road and it shut off, narrowed it down to the fuel pump, replaced it with a new one and it wouldnt come on. rn a wire to a toggle switch from the battery to the pump worked just fine for two years, blew head gasket and cracked the hed, replaced and was letting it run and noticed a busted metal line at the tank. so i took to a garage and had a pump put in, had them do it cause of snow, got it back and the toggle switch got so hot it melted it. well i put new pump relay in it today and drove it up the road, no toggle switch, and when you get a little stout with it it stalls. ease off the gas and it runs, can hear the pump when you turn thee key and everything. the pump has three wires that go into a plug, a black-ground, a gray-pump power, and a purple-gauge i think, and one black frame ground. on a real tight budget here, not sure how they wired the toggle switch, been raining and only can work out side. can anyone help tell me where to check or how to fix it where i dont have to have a toggle in it? thanks
