Advice on replacing EGR Valve : 2000 Blazer
Hello all,
I'm having trouble figuring out what size socket wrench I need to disconnect my old EGR Valve in order to install the new one. I tried pretty much every size socket that was in my set, but nothing fit securely. The two bolts look to be standard size, I just don't know the actual dimensions. In the mean time I'm stuck on idle until I figure out what size will fit. Anyone know the exact size? Another question: visually, I see the two screws that I'm to deal with, but I keep reading about this 'large' bolt that is underneath. I know nothing about a 'third' bolt. Is there something to expect after removing the first two? Also, this is my first time dealing with the EGR Valve so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot for you help and best regards... |
It should be 10 mm, and just the two. Be sure to get a gasket with a screen in it to help prevent carbon build up. An extension with a wobble head will make the job much easier. Also, when you are putting the bolts back in, take a small piece of paper towel and line the socket with it so the bolt stays in nice and tight. Otherwise, it will probably drop out.

Why did you get a new one? Just take the old one off, clean it out, put it back on and return the $200 New one you got
