ATD Tools 80050 Underhood Light repair.
My Sabre 80050 Florescent under hood light died. I ordered and installed a replacement circuit board off of ebay. The light worked fine after repair. I was using it this past weekend and it died again. I opened up the handle and it looked like a Cap exploaded inside. Instead of ordering another board or tossing out the light I picked up a Ballast at Home Depot and installed the Ballast on the backside/Center of the light fixture with 3M Molding tape. I drilled a hole on each side of the ballast to run the wires inside of the light to each end. Once I had it all wired up. The light worked perfectly. I checked the fit on hood of my S15 Jimmy and the External Ballast does not interfere at all with the hood. Now I have a easily repairable underhood light.

Nice.
I saw that on either full-size Chevy trucks or on Jeeps an underhood light that was on a retractable power cord that I thought would be a good mod. Never got around to doing it though. |
