Batteries
Just had to buy a new battery as was wondering what everyone else uses.
I bought one from advanced auto parts middle grade, silver model 88.00 would like an optima but can see spending 200.00 plus |
i really dont see the whole draw of those optima batteries unless you have a space issue and need to mount it sideways or plan on rolling your vehicle over. i hear so many issues with them. ive had great luck with interstate batteries. had one for about 7 years until the wire grounded out on the manifold causing it to burn out.

Get the highest reserve capacity and cold cranking amps that you can afford, don't go cheap when it comes to batteries.
I have 2 blue top, (marine) Optima batteries connected in paralell for my 55 amp trolling motor. Went just over 10 miles, (according to my GPS) and barely put a dent in them, and they're almost 7 years old! Haven't had any experience with the red or yellow tops, but if they're anything like the blue tops, they're worth the price. |
Thats funny you say that about interstate, thats what I just got rid of. Have had 2 sets of them in our floor scrubber at work and all of them have crapped out early. Maybe just bad luck

I just got a Mastercraft 850 CCA for my fullsize for 130 bucks. The name brand one was the same specs and 190 bucks... both have 3 year warrantys. The mastercraft has top posts on it too, so boosting wont be such a PITA getting the clamps to hold on.
Captain, 2 batteries in parrallel will give you 4x the life of a single battery would. The fish store guys stress to use 2 batteries for trolling motors for that reason. |
ive had my Optima yellow top for 5 years and still going strong. Pulled it from my totaled blazer and put in the Bravada.

I have an Optima red top that I took out of my old Accord x2 and it works great. I've got a bit of a stereo in my Blazer, no issues whatsoever. Starts effortlessly every time.
