Elections.

Well, your elections are over. Now it's our turn.
Yes tiny little New Zealand also has those, even with only 4.2 million inhabitants.

Tomorrow we go to the polls & hopefully get rid of the Labour govt. Helen Clarke has been around for 3 terms (9 years) & she's out lived her time - my opinion. (the PM's here serve for 3 years at a time & can stay for max of 4 terms). It seems likely that the National Party will win this time.

How many main parties do you guys have?

RE: Elections.

Just 2. Labour (49 seats) & National (48 seats).

There are6 other minor parties with 7, 6, 2, 1. 2 others don't have any seats.

Currently the Labour party is in coalition with some of the minors to have the majority. (they call it a "confidence & supply" agreement)

RE: Elections.

It's all over bar the shouting. The vote count is at 98% & National are clearly ousting the Labour party with 58seats against 44.

Helen Clarke is out after 9 long years.

Our new Prime Minister will be John Key for the next 3 years & hopefully many more after that.
