HF Blast Cabinet Upgrades

I have a HF Model 93608 Blast Cabinet that I purchased new 12/05/10(This has the dual fluorescent light box on top). Using it has been frustrating at times as it would blast fine for a little bit than nothing. I decided to investigate possible upgrades and accomplished the following with fantastic results.
1. I removed the window frame and light box and installed rivnuts in the cabinet so I can easily change the window and light box film without having to worry about dropping nuts inside the cabinet. I used 8-32 rivnuts and screws for the window and 1/4-20 rivnuts for the light box.
2. I purchased a 20 pack of 12" X 24" Econoline window film and was able to secure it in the window glass. For the light box I was able to trim 1 sheet of the 12" X 24" sheets to fit the glass. (I did have to overlap a small amount as the light glass is longer than 24')
3. I purchased a Skat Blast Cabinet upgrade kit. I did have to change the air connection and hose inside the cabinet as the new gun came with a 1/4 ****** fitting for the gun and the blast cabinet was a 1/8 hose and ****** fitting. A trip to home depot to get a 1/4 MIP X 3/8 hose fitting) and a pack of hose clamps. (I cut a short piece of airline hose from my hose reel) The results are fantastic, there are no surges, flows media constantly and the pressure and volume is also increased. (A++++++++++++++++++++++++++)
4. I use my shop smith dust collector on the side port and remove the back cover and the cabinet has a slight negative pressure while blasting. With the new light film I can actually see what I am doing.
5. The last thing I have to install is I a HTC Mobile Base that I will assemble and install tomorrow.

Nice that you got that working as it should.

I'll probably have to do something at the cabinet on one of the places I work. It sucks.

Quick remedy is a metal bar stuck between the grilles. At least I can shovel down the medium to the pickup without removing or opening the cabinet when it runs out of blasting media.

You could mount a pneumatic vibrator on the outside of the bin and hit it for a second once in a while.

That cabinet needs major modifications anyway. Maybe we'll add something like that.
