How to judge a website legality?
 

Can anyone help me to judge a website legality?

Not even sure what that means?

For any online purchase how to justify the site?
Is there any other way to find its real existence?
The reason is I found a site related with automobile and planning to purchase one for me.
I saw many units are in offer and specially Honda Accord 2003 For Sale. This link is given to check.

Now I want to know how to check its legality.
On the address bar its saying secured.
Please advice what do you think on it.

my 5cents:

If I want to make sure a website is legitimate (as good as we can do that without going there) I do:

- Start with the "impressum" - addresses
- Check the addresses. google maps and streetview.
- Check the "who-is" (whois) information with the websites registrar.
- Check the respective jellow pages
- See on internet about (experiences, shopping experience, problems, fraud) in combination with the company and website name.

- Check for details of the website by using google and always add "-websitename". Make sure the result you get is from a different source and not the website. i.e. they feature a government business number at the very bottom. Try to confirm that number on an official source.

I look for inconsistencies within the site. company name vs. who registered the website. addresses shown in various locations. Contact information vs. maps. Banks vs. maps. Do all the locations exist and so on...

Depending on your expertise you can also dig into the website code and see what scripts or redirects they use. Trigger a feedback from their customer service and analyze the mail header to see if if comes from the right place.

Try to figure the official business registry of the place of business.

That's about what comes to my mind for checking our a website/business.
