making a resume
 

im trying to find a good template for making a resume, im looking to get an electrical job. anyone know a good site or have experience making them that can offer tips?

I googled resume builder and theres one you get as far as the different sort of templates..... I just modeled mine in Microsoft Word right after the one I liked best. Dont foget the cover letter, either. I usually put my name, number, contact etc in the top left and the date written at the top right. Then list off my previous jobs. I'll give the contact info of those jobs, dates worked, salary, skills learned, and bullet off 3 or 4 things I did in that job. More for jobs that pertain to what I want and less for jobs that didn't. And then 3 good solid references at the very bottom, with their name and number.

The cover letter is basically just you bull****ting to how awesome you are and how much you deserve the job.

hahaha i forgot about the cover letter. good call! yea basically ive been told you just gotta brag about yourself and make sure you mention Safety and teamwork and it looks good haha

I dont bother with resumees. I just sell myself. And now that Im a Home Hardware driver (the safest large fleet in Canada) my experience would just sell itself.

Use a lot of action verbs to describe yourself. Make sure to keep your previous jobs in the past tense. Toot your own horn as much as possible. Spell check is your friend. Try to keep it as short as possible but don't leave anything important out. The general rule of thumb is about a page. 1 page resume is a staple.
