New Jersey HID Law?

I recently just installed 8000k HID headlights in my truck and i was wondering can i still go through regular inspection with them or do i need to go to a garage and pay to get my sticker?

i'd say hat's something you need to find out @ your local MTO.

while they may be fellow members onhere from New Jersey, and i'm sure we all can offer up an opinion on the subject, your safeest bet is to;
a) buy a set of 5000K bulbs for inspection purposes, or,
b) find out the truth of what you can run from the MTO, which may have you buying a set of 5000K bulbs for inspection anyways.

good luck, and be sure to keep us informed of what happens.

I would put the regular bulbs back in for inspections. It boils down to it is still illegal to run any kind of HID retrofit in any state in the US. You might luck out and get passed with the correct color bulbs(white) and not anything blue or purple but I find that highly doubtful.

You will fail inspection regardless which HID's you have in your truck unless they came installed from factory. You are better off just switch back to regular bulbs when it's time to get the truck inspected.

I have 5000k in mine. the ballasts are tucked away out of sight. wires are tucked away as well and it passed inspection without a problem.

Was that at a NJ DMV?

Unlimitedsp 12-22-2009 02:47 PM

No its PA, but they are also illegal here for inspection.

It takes a few minutes to just swap out the bulbs, so there's no reason to run the risk of failing inspection and returning another day. lol
