Are you going to make a little brush guard for it? :p Nice work indeed.
|
lol, I'm debating on it. I'm gonna try to find a premade one.
There's a whole community of Scale Modelers that I'm sure can point me in the right direction. I'm just afraid of being this young chick in a group of older guys lol. |
For the blue, here were the options for 1979:
http://coloradok5.com/brochures/1979/blazer8.jpg Looks like you have a choice between Hawaiian Blue, Mariner Blue, and Deep Blue. My guess would be Deep Blue, but I can't find the paint code for it. Also, a hobby shop will sell sheets and tubes of styrene (and other shapes, too). Sheets come in various thickness and tubes come in various diameters. I built an entire monster truck frame from rectangular styrene stock. A little glue and a little heat to bend as needed and you can make nearly anything outside of curved body panels and more involved stuff like that. A brush guard should be no problem! |
lol, yeah I found that page. I'm sure I'll be able to find the color just by telling them the year, and model.
|
Nice job on the model, and yes I also wondered why it wasn't pink.
|
Brush guards are easy to make. I used to build them out of brass tube and aluminum sheet. Very east to solder with a torch and have ready.
Any store that has model trains, rc cars, or if you lucky model car supplies will have everything you need. Used to get my supplies from a store called hobby lobby. Most model car builders scrap parts from a little of everywhere. Fishing line makes great fuel lines, wires for sparkplugs can come from old radios. You just learn to look at everything for a double purpose. Yeah I used to be a model car geek as a kid. |
