put light pressure on the shifter before you let off the acelerator
When you let off the accelelerator it should pop out of gear ,push it to next gear

It is best to use the clutch , the transmission will be much happier

On US 41 going across the Everglades and the heater core got to leaking. Pulled into a state park and set up the trailer, then pulled the hoses off the heater at the firewall and plugged them securely. I replaced the heater core when we got home to Arizona. That job is a real PITA.

Why would you need a heater in the Everglades and Aridzona?

Did something similar once on my chevelle. Noticed the heater core was leaking, so I just looped the hose from the water pump back to the manifold. This was July, and it's Texas. I'll fix it before winter. Right. Finally by late Jan. I finally broke down and did it. It was fun driving during an ice storm. I had to keep exiting the highway to scrape ice off the windshield!

I didn't need heat in the 'glades, but I did need the coolant. We do use the heater in the winter here in AZ.

Had a serpentine snap out cruising on back roads. Used my old ladies and her friends yoga pants. Made us the 20 miles back into town
