Save it or Lose it?
1 Attachment(s)
Hey Guy's
At the beginning of this year I pulled out my rear GU6 open diff assembly because I found two pinion gear teeth had broken off, so instead of an R&R of the ring and pinion, I located a 2003 salvage yard blazer (same year as mine) that had a GU6 with G80 option, so I bought it. The rear end swap went without any problems. It works great and I'm very happy with the donor diff. So now I got the old diff assembly against the wall in my garage. I'm tired of walking around it but feel as though it's gotta have some sort of value. Should I call the local metal scrapper dude and have him haul it all off free of charge, or should I hold onto the pile of parts for some reason or another that I'm not at the moment realizing? Thanks for any opinions, Will continue to step over them until I've been convinced either way: Save it or Lose it? https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1407359008 |
Rebuild your old one so it's ready when the junkyard rear end breaks?

I threw a couple of teeth of my pinion gear right out the side of the housing in june. Pulled one from the scrap yard, sand blasted, primed, painted, then rebuilt. Same gears, new seals and bearings. then a new cover. Toss the old one! Mine had a core charge.
