Yep, consoles have their place, but pure power isn't it. Haha.

You sure did go all out. It looks great! Must have cost you close to $1000 or a little bit more. i7 Haswell's are pretty much top of the line cpu's. But I applaud you sir for building your own desktop. The feeling after it's all built, you install the os, and see the masterpiece on your screen is like nothing else.

You get most of your components from Newegg?

I built my own last June and have upgraded and upgraded since lol. A $200 investment turned into $xxx you know. I'm an AMD guy though. For my tastes, Intel is a little bit too expensive for what you get. I started off with an AMD A4 Trinity then soon upgraded to an AMD A10 Richland and this thing is an absolute monster. Bought the black edition so it could be overclocked with a click of the mouse. 4.1 base clock and from there, the potential is endless.

AMD just released Kaveri which should close the gap between Intel and AMD

Specs:
AMD A10 Richland 4.1
16gb Patriot Viper 3 ram
OCZ 650 Watt Fully Modular PSU
Rosewill Line ATX Case
Seagate 1tb hard drive (Need to add a solid state soon for the os)
MSI FM2 Motherboard

Will add a picture later. Hopefully others will chime in with their desktop builds.

This is probably pretty close to what he paid and this doesnt include everything that I am sure he got with it, but is as close as I could get.

PCPartPicker part list: Intel Core i7-4770K, MSI GeForce GTX 780 Ti, Cooler Master Storm Stryker (White) - System Build - PCPartPicker
Price breakdown by merchant: Intel Core i7-4770K, MSI GeForce GTX 780 Ti, Cooler Master Storm Stryker (White) - System Build - Price Breakdown By Merchant - PCPartPicker
Benchmarks: Intel Core i7-4770K, MSI GeForce GTX 780 Ti, Cooler Master Storm Stryker (White) - System Build - Benchmarks - PCPartPicker

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($339.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X60 98.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($119.98 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI Z87 MPOWER Max ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($248.94 @ Newegg)
Memory: Mushkin Blackline 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory ($174.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Intel 335 Series 240GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($192.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.67 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Video Card ($699.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Cooler Master Storm Stryker (White) ATX Full Tower Case ($144.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Pioneer BDC-207DBK Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer ($49.99 @ Amazon)
Monitor: AOC e2752Vh 60Hz 27.0" Monitor ($257.58 @ Newegg)
Total: $2289.11

That is very close to the machine that I built last year, and the nice thing is that these will last a few years before we even have to think about upgrading anything.

Only real difference is that mine is the 2011 chipset I7-3820 with an asus rampage motherboard, and an ATI 7970 GHZ edition video card, and I stuffed it into this case. Sure is fun to be able to build what you want and get the satisfaction that you were looking for out of it.

BTW what games to you play and what kind of fps are you getting on them?

and here i thought that i was the only geek on here! lol. i have the same CPU. (4770K FTW!) i have the MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming MoBo. and with just what the motherboard will do as far as overclocking, I'm running at a very stable 4.2ghz. i couldnt spend a whole bunch of money on a graphics card so i ended up with the GTX 660. and i dont have room in my room to put a computer desk so i just use my LED tv as a monitor. its nice having a 40" to play games on and surf the internet. i didnt splurge a bit on the SSD's though, i have (2) 240 gb Muskins and 16 gigs of G.Skill DDR3 2133 ram. if my MoBo didnt take so long to do a "pre-trip" my cold start times would be under 20 seconds! i freakin love my PC.

Yeah I went through newegg for just about everything. I don't really play any super hardcore graphics games, but I wanted the ability to play them at great FPS. The hardest game I've seen on this setup so far is just league of legends or Batman: arkham origins, and they play at 75 - 80 FPS average. I keep wanting to try crysis 3 or battlefield 4 though, just because I'd like to see how it does.

I almost went with an AMD rig, with the FX-9590, but I didn't like the MB options for the AM3+ socket, and the 4770K benchmarks about the same on cpubenchmark.net and I didn't really like the 220W TPD of it either. 5GHz would be nice, but the performance just wasn't there for me.

I just did a PC build at the end of October. Not as high of specs as yours, but still pretty durn good. I have yet to play a game on it, because it's being used at my gf's place to stream shows. What are some graphics games? I'm looking to find like the games with the highest demands. Games that are wayyy ahead of what PS4 people are seeing. Suggestions?
