I wouldn't hesitate to take my Blazer on a 1000-mile trip. As long as it was on a trailer being towed by my Ford. :D

I have just come back from a tour of Brittany, France. In two weeks my 2001 Blazer covered 1300 miles on roads which ranged from English motorways, single track coastal paths to cobbled streets in Dinan where we were staying.
The Chevy coped with everything without problem and needed no work whatsoever, not even a topping up of any fluids.
Not surprisingly we did not come across another Blazer as they are few and far between in Europe but I was impressed at the number of American cars we did see in France. These included two Camaros, a Cadillac Seville STS, a Cadillac CTS Wagon, a Corvette C7 and at least 3 Dodge Rams. A bit of a bonus to have car spotting as well as beautiful scenery.
The week before going to France we did a 550 mile round trip going to Daks over Duxford which was an event commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings with a gathering of over 20 Douglas DC3/ C47s which then flew to Normandy. A truly amazing and moving sight seeing them set off in convoy. It seemed appropriate to turn up in one American workhorse, the Blazer to celebrate another, the Dakota.
I have full confidence in my truck and would certainly go on another driving holiday indeed we are tempted by a longer road to trip to Spain next year. Watch this space....

LEL. That depends if I am able to carry my wrench set with me ;) I am close to achieve zen mastery level with Blazers. Soon I'll know every single bolt in this ride.

More seriously - have You ever thought, how many times people are afraid of doing 1k mile trips, while they do ten times more during their daily city life, when nothing happens? Just do a simple test - how many miles You turn over in between breakdowns. And I mean the real ones, when You're unable to continue with a crippling car.
