Mine looked exactly like this. It was, and still is, a good looking car. 5 speed.
If I ever see a blue and in good shape (almost perfect, or at least clean and not dinged up) 1986 or 1987 VW Jetta Deluxe (I had an 86, I will accept an 87) I will buy it.
My first car, a 1993 Camaro I bought in 2006 with my inheritance money after my grandmother died. I was 19. I had spent entirely too much money on buying it, and on doing stuff to it afterwards. Eventually had to sell it because I was in a rough spot in life and had no choice. Still kind of miss it but I miss my 1992 Camaro RS with T-Tops I got a few years later more. Still pains me to see the ugly monstrosities today that bear the Camaro nameplate.
Suzuki has really outdone themselves with the Jimny! As an avid off-roader, I've put this compact SUV through its paces, and it never disappoints. Its robust build and capable four-wheel-drive system tackle challenging terrain with ease, making it a go-to choice for outdoor enthusiasts like myself. Despite its rugged capabilities, the Jimny offers a surprisingly comfortable ride on-road, making it a practical daily driver as well. And with its charming retro styling, it's not just a capable off-roader but also a head-turner on the streets. Whether you're exploring the wilderness or navigating urban jungles, the Suzuki Jimny visit site here, is the perfect companion for any adventure!
My First Car...... 1950 Buick Special for $20 from Grandfather. He bought it new...... 60K miles. Mint! I drove it around the pasture when I was 12 - 14 years old.
1965 Ford Galaxy 500 for $125 in 1976. I was a broke *** college kid in engineering school with barely two nickels to rub together so my automotive repair journey began. I can't lay my hands on a photo of mine but here is the year and color scheme from the interwebs:
1950 Buick Special - 60K mile creampuff I bought for $20 from my grandfather when I was 12. I had a track in the pasture. It lasted for a couple of years, but spun rod bearings immediately after I got my learner's permit when 14.
First car I really drove on the road was my 1968 El Camino. My Mom helped me buy it in 1971 when the Buick bit the dust (I did have to pay her back in cash while in high school - she never forgot about it). Idea was to drive it to school on an Iowa school permit, which allowed 15-year-olds to drive to school and back (nothing more). Unfortunately they did away with the school permits a couple of months before I turned 15. I was devastated. So I just drove to school anyway and never asked anyone's permission. In fact, I drove everywhere - not only just to school and managed to stay out of trouble (not sure how). I was a big kid and looked significantly older than 15.
Great stories. When I was around 14 my cousin and I used to "borrow" my dads pick up truck and go joy riding on Fridays when my parents would go grocery shopping. Once in the Illinois winter we hit black ice and slid off the road and went nose down in a ditch on a desolate road. We were dead, I mean might as well just run away and never go home. My dad was a construction guy who was a sailor during WWII. Well over the hill comes a tow truck and not just any tow truck. It was full of drunk college kids. After I explained that I had no money and I stole my dads truck they launched into action, used the winch and pulled the truck out of the ditch and sent us on our way. We got home minutes before my parents got home. Years later at a family dinner my dad says oh you mean when you used to steal my truck and go joy riding on Friday nights? You knew about that? He said he got calls from the nosy neighborhood ladies every Saturday morning and besides you dumb *** the hood was always warm and the engine clicking when I got home, snow in the grill, etc. I said why did I not get my **** kicked and he said well I figured that if this was the worst thing that you were doing then I was getting a bargain compared to me at your age. Times were different then. We also fell out of trees without a helmet, rode our bikes in the fog behind the mosquito truck and drank hose water. I also walked 10 blocks to grade school every day in the Chicago winter but I did have shoes on. LOL.
