4x4 drop

So...I have a 2000 4dr and from what ive been reading, you can do a drop using the stock torsion keys? How does one go about doing this. And how do you drop the rear? Im only looking for about 2.5-3" in front and 3" in rear. Im guessing if i did this i would need to buy new shocks too. Are there any brands you would reccomend? I have found the belltech kit for pretty cheap (wanna say it was under 400).

Many threads in this section about this. Here's the most recent:

thanks, but the only thing is, that doesnt say anything about how to do it which is kinda what i was looking for.

For the front, it is the exact opposite of a lift. Loosen the torsion bar bolts.

that part ive figured out, but i really dont know **** about suspension, where are these bolts? how much do i loosen them? Does the truck need to be off the ground when i do this? Would i be better off just buying the belltech kit? Its a bit under 400 on stylintrucks

Well, you could look for the Tbar lift article in the Tech Article (DIY) section... Just do the opposite.

cool, know anything about drop blocks in the back?

swartlkk 04-09-2009 05:33 PM

Like what? You remove the u-bolts, install the blocks, and install the new longer u-bolts and you are done. There is obviously more to it like properly supporting the frame on jack stands and then having a jack handy to raise the axle... Then there is having the proper tools to get the old u-bolts off.

well then, i guess this was alot easier than i had anticipated...cant wait till i got an extra 400 layin around so i can drop my blazer

$400??? what do you need that's gonna cost $400? I dropped my 4X4 4/4 and all it cost me was the blocks and front shocks!

I have a thread somewhere in here on how I did it!
