'87 Blazer/Corvette handling
 

Hey All,

I just bought my 1st '87 Blazer after wanting one since...well, '87.

I LOVE IT, and I wanna make it stop and turn as well as possible before I drop an LS1/6 speed in it<---this WILL happen. It is already lowered with blocks in the back and cut stock springs in the front...

My 1st stop: 84-87 C4 Vette (flat face, 16" SALAD SHOOTER) wheels, and all things urethane on the front.

Here's ALL my questions. Answers to any or all of these without mention os my self admitted ignorance would be greatly appreciated.

1. Will these wheels fit?
2. If so, what spacers/adapters are needed?
3. What 16" tire sizes work?
4. Can I eventually graft other Vette stuff to the front AND REAR suspension?
5. Who makes the best urethane and upgraded front end parts?
6. I live in CA. Is there a one stop shopping S10 spot?
7. Has anyone put an LS1 in an S10 Blazer?
8. How does one determine the ride height one's S10 has been lowered?

Well I'll be the first to say anythings possible with $$$$... That being said I can answer 1 or 2 of your questions. Yes you can get spacers to make the vette wheels fit. I dont remember how much of one you need. Lots of guys have dropped LS engines in these trucks. But it is by no means (in my opinion) a very easy task but very doable. A one stop blazer shop? Hell I think we all wish for one of those. Bottom line is there isn't a huge aftermarket following of these trucks. More stuff it seems for the 2wd drive guys over us 4x4s. The suspension... Please do it because that would be absolutely wicked to see a vette drive train under an S series

First, Google is your friend. There are entire forums dedicated to LS1/6 swaps into everything else, includint s10's 2wd and 4wd.

The wheel will fit. Since you are 2wd, you will need spacers. Something like 2.25 or 2.5", I never bothered to remember which.

Your first step is to get a proper coil spring back on the front and do not use the springs with a coil cut off, or heated coils. Since you are going v8, you will want springs for a 4.3 v6, which is comparable in weight to the LS1.

The common way to determine how much you have lowered your truck, is to measure before and after ground clearance. Folks tend to use the top of the wheel well.

You are going to drop atleast a grand, closer to two into this engine swap and probably double your horsepower. Do it right.
