Do 2" lowering blocks need to be angled?
 

It's been a while and I can't remember, do 2" lowering blocks for a 2002 Blazer, 2WD, 4DR, need to be angled?
I know 3"+ need to be to adjust the pinion angle, but I can't remember about 2".

The biggest consideration is that the pinion and output shaft be at the same angle.
If you move the pinion to 5° positive (up) - then the output shaft has to be 5° negative (down).

Whatever angle the u-joints work out to be, will always be the same on both ends of the driveshaft.

You may have to shim the rear axle and install a spacer under the trans mount to do it right. Measure the angles with vehicle sitting squarely on the ground. Good luck

I took my 86 K5 up 3" in the front - accidentally - when I bought new springs and forgot that what I was seeing and measuring was a badly sagged inverse ellipse spring and a set of snow plow helpers that had finally cracked and were flopping around inside the clamps ... but it looked bad. ... ya know?

So, I got the new springs in and needed to do something with the rears ... so I got some 2" blocks and shoved them in between the housing flange with the taper they sent and the new springs.

Everything went well after fighting with the rear spring company and telling them they were full of bull ka-ka telling me to angle to pinon toward the output of the transfer case. My mirrors were fuzzed up so badly they were useless.

I got it all set up --- but then the rear brakes started a new problem that I had to fix fast! Nothing wrong with the brakes --- they were working well.

If I braked very softly, no problem --- but use more brakes and there was a horrible flip-flopping on the rear u-joint.

So --- I waited for a couple of weeks to let the problem diagnose itself in my giant brain - and after a 2AM epiphany, I knew what I was gonna do --- and this is the video that I made.

Now hear me good here --- I am NOT a professional videographer and I can't edit videos --- don't know how.

So--- here you get a raw-ish video with good info ... truly fruit of my looms ..............


You might notice (as I did) that this video ends rather abruptly --- my bad.
