I lowered my truck 3 inches, the cheap way!

Hello to all my Online BlazerForum Friends & Members!

Today I decided to lower my truck as I've wanted to for some time, but I've been on a very low budget because work is short at the moment.

I learned this is not 100% the real way to lower your truck, by any means is it a low rider but for under $150 you can lower your truck anywhere between 2 - 4 inches if not more doing two things. I've also included a link below of the 3' inch block's I purchased on eBay.

1. If you loosen your tortion bar screws with a tortion key, you can lower or lift your front (that is for 4x4 as I'm doing this on a 97' Chevy Blazer LS 4x4)

2. You can purchase 2' inch 2/3, 3' inch, 3/4, or even 4' inch drop blocks for the rear for under $50 on eBay with free shipping or at your local speed shop and have them installed for under $75.00 at your local suspension shop!

I'll upload the pictures of my truck lowered 3 inches in the front and back with this method in a few days... :icon_lurk5:
Enjoy!

3' inch drop blocks I purchased and used for my 97' Chevy Blazer LS 4X4:

It will say it does not fit for some reason, yet their all the same drop blocks universal for most midsize SUV's and trucks!

Wouldn't using the t bars to lower it really soften up the ride? I know lifting with them makes it ride much stiffer. How is the handling, after?

Right after I did the front I took it for an alignment, and it is a bit soft but it actually handles very very nice I love it! :)

As the OP said, buying lowering blocks and loosening the T-Bar adjustment bolts, you will get the cheapest drop.

Twist to a minimum? well, I'll try. Just not sure I understand how to do it, and what to do if the torsion bars are loosened? Buy new torsion keys?

p.s.
I looked at your garage, you have a great cobalt!

BE warned about the key bolts,There is a thing called "chevy lean". I tried this when i had my blazer and the left side was lower then the right. ended up putting em back where they were. besides,it only dropped it like 1 1/2" at most.. I even tried driving it around to see if it just needed to "break in". You will also hit your bump stops

Looking at the pic of your truck it looks like you will rub everywhere if you go to much lower with those tires on there. That's an awesome pic tho for sure!!
