Lowering a 4wd blazer/jimmy

I LOVE the looks of a Blazer xtreme and how they sit (much lower than my 4x4 Jimmy), but if you do that to a 4wd truck, does it handle worse in icy/snowy conditions?

What's the average drop on these kinda trucks? Mine is a '01 SLS 4x4, and I'd love the stance of a Blazer xtreme, but will it affect handling? How low is too low for factory wheels?

I'd appreciate any input on this subject, I'm sure its been discussed a thousand times...lol

Belltech makes a 3/3 lowering kit for your truck.

youd be suprised. Everyone thinks youll blow through the ball joints but not really. Just get an alignment once you drop it so your not blowin through tires and if you wanna do a ball joint switch go with some moogs

you shouldnt wear balljoints that bad tho by lowering but if you raised it would wear them bad ( from what all I understood anyways )

you can do it easy by taking out the torsion key bolts out and buying lowering blocks. It should drop the front anywhere from 2-4 inches and you can get 1-4 inch blocks.

I lowered my 2000 LT w/ torsion keys and 3inch blocks in the rear but i recommend the 2inch blocks if you do the torsion in the front. Get an alignment in the front. And for the record it will handle some corners.

My '99 is lowered two inches, t-bars in front, blocks in back. I just replaced the stock ball joints and they weren't really worn out. The CV joints were noisy, and I figure the lowering caused them to wear more than usual.

With 18" wheels and wide tires she handles nice!
