lowering 91 question
 

hey guys i got a 91 4wd 2d blazer and im lowering it and i was wondering if i would need to have the leaf springs in the back i wont be hauling anything and was wondering if i can get away with just having the shocks in the back?

and another thing where can i buy lowering shocks at?

I'm in the same boat as you, except mine is a 1992 model 4 door. From my research you need to retain the leafs in the back. Drop shocks alone will not lower the vehicle. On Stylintrucks.com I'am looking at a set of DJM 3 inch lowering blocks, and a set of 4 toxic drop shocks for like $230.00 including shipping. The blocks you just place on the leaf spring in place of the old ones and it pulls the axle closer to the chassis. Now I'm just debating on ordering the torsion keys for an extra 125 dollars or lower it 3 inches in the front by just backing out the torsion adjustment bolts and hoping for the best. Hope this answers your question some.

If you take your leafs out whats gonna keep your rearend in place?

to lower the rear there is no need to remove the leafs nor do i recomend it, you have a few options 1. get lowering blocks(least expensive) 2. get a whole new leaf pack(expensive but better ride) or u can remove a leaf from the stock leaf pack.


ImScrewed92- the lowering blocks do not replace any exsisting blocks considering there arent any, they simply place between the leafs and the axle to achieve the drop.

Sorry Mikeinwi, I was half asleep when I wrote that. I meant that the block and the new, longer u bolts which replace the old u bolts would bring the axle up, etc. I didn't mean to sound like you had to remove the stock blocks. Some trucks come with lifting blocks, ours don't. Sorry agian. longer u bolt part got lost in translation somewhere between my mind and my fingers :)
