method of lowering on the cheap?
 

I've noticed my 2wd / 4dr 2000 Blazer could stand to be about 2-3" lower. I don't want a "lowered" truck, just wanting to get the front end down in relation to where the rear already sags, thus making entrance/exit easier.

What's the most cost effective way of accomplishing this?

you can get some 2" spindles for like 140 bucks off ebay. thats about the cheapest you can go.

if I changed those spindles, what else would I have to change? shocks, springs etc. I thought about doing the ol'redneck version and just cutting a coil off the springs.... that's how they lower racecars around here ;)

when cutting the coils be very careful with the blazer being more front end heavy the ride might get alittle rougher so think about that

if you change the spindles you might as well change the ball joints too. the spindle route should be about the easiest and the safest i would think. the spindle drop has been around for sooooo long and you never really hear of one just breaking for no apparent reason. just buy some good quality parts and you should be fine.

I had cut coils on my old S-10 for 5 or so years with no problems. It stiffened up the ride a little too which was nice for a 'sport' truck.

why not put in add a leafs and bring the back up?

Kind of an old thread, but instead of cutting the coils use a torch to heat them up and let the weight of the vehicle compress them some more. I did this on my old '84 blazer and got about another 1/2" lower. Of course, I already had lowered spindles and 3" lowered coils in the front. I could push a coke can laying on its side....should have have air ride on it.

Oh yeah and FWIW, when you are building something like this don't go cheap on it. Because you really do get what you pay for.
