Be careful with wide wheels with high backspacing. I originally wanted to use 17x9 Camaro SS wheels with 6(somewhere around there) inches of backspacing and they gave me nothing but trouble. They hit frame when I turned, just too wide and I didn't want to get spacers.

So with an 18x9.5, check the backspacing. If it's high, you have no choice besides getting wheel spacers/wheel adapters if you want them to not rub.

You will not be abole to run Corvette or Camaro wheels on a 2wd S-series with out spacers. I don't remember the exact number but it will be at least 2.25", maybe 2.5". With the right spacers those wheels will clear with out issues.

Dropping it will be easy depending on how much low you want. You can do 1.5" with GM factory parts (Xtreme front coils and Xtreme blazer rear leafs). More low can be had with aftermarket parts. If you lower using springs, you will need shocks. If you use blocks, the stock shocks will still work for the back. I cannot say about lowering spindles except that they are costly.
