Xtreme front end lowering?
 

hey all, i drive an 02 xtreme which has been dropped an inch in the back to level it but other than that is stock as far as suspension goes. i had discussed with my father lowering the front end an inch or two but he tells me that the design of the front end wont accomodate(?) for lowering without changing geometry and putting increased load on the wheel bearings, now i see blazers dropped in the front all the time and im very curious as to how this is done safely, i love this car and dont want to damage it by messing with the geometry. so if anybody has any input, it is greatly appreciated.

and remember im only wanting to drop it an inch or two in the front, then il think about the back.

if ur going only a inch or two lower then springs will do just fine or you can also go with a 2" lowering spindle.

ok, i have heard that the spindle is the way to go to preserve geometry, correct?
also, i am completley new to car suspension, so if anybody could tell me how the front/rear end suspension operates, that would be awesome and help me a lot. thanks all!

the spidle does retain the factory geometry, but if you went with a 1 or 2" spring its not a large enough drop to make a real difference. as far as the rear goes you have 2 options also, either lowering blocks or lowering leaf springs.

it has a 1" block in the back, my only concern is if i drop the front 2" will the tire be in danger of bottoming out? or will that not be a problem?

youll have to get underneath and look, but if you think itll be close to bottoming out you can just trim the bumpstops.

bumpstops are wat the axle hits when you bottom out theyre made of rubber and are like 5-6" long. they kind of remind me of a big dog toy, but if you look underneath and above the axle towards the tires you cant miss them.

oh ok gotcha, what about inside the wheel well?

youll hit frame looong before you have to worry about hitting the top of the wheel well
