Conversation Between bam_9_9_9 and zigzag

front wheels on my 2000 blazer 4.3 3 button switch were trying to engage, bought new vacuum switch for transfer case, took old one out and ball was stuck in, but with the new one it wont go into 4x4, put the old one in and it will, do you know what the problem could be?
