"New" Blazer Owner from PA
Hey guys (and girls),
Well, I have a bit of a story to tell....hope it doesnt bore you. I just bought a 1999 Chevy Blazer 4x4 4door (I dont know whatever else you may call it, if it has a special designation like LT, S, etc etc). I never expected to buy one though, as I have owned a beautiful, lifted 2005 Xterra on 33s for the last 2.5 years. I wheel it like crazy and run an off-road club with my better half, Chris (hes a Jeeper). Well, last thursday, I totaled my Xterra (its name was Pete) on some black ice. Heres some pics: http://s125.photobucket.com/albums/p...rraxtian/Pete/ Needless to say, I am heartbroken beyond words. I did everything for, with, and because of that rig. It was like another person. Everyone knew my truck....and called it by name. So yesterday, I went to a used car dealer mostly because I didnt want to get back into a huge loan, etc etc. I saw the Blazer and it looked GREAT. Clean, runs well, shifted thru gears and to and from 4WD very nicely. For a 99, it looked brand new. So I bought it. Happily....even though itll NEVER be Pete. As soon as I got home, I looked for a lift for it. All I can find is 6" lifts. Is there such thing as a 3" lift for this? Also, I saw one of you has a lifted one and only have 32s...is that all you can fit? Am I looking at only having 33s? I ask, although no mods will be done for a while. Im going to save up the money Im saving not paying for my Xterra, and have some "toy money". Anyway...I knew Id be able to find some people with a similar truck that had done some modifications. Its how I started out with my Xterra. ;) |

Ouch Pete looked rough after that...Glad youre ok!
But yes lifting Blazers can get pricey. Youve got a 2' suspension lift, the 5/6' suspension lifts, and a 2' body lift. To fit 33s youre really going to need the 5/6' kit. Orrr you could get into cutting back some wheel well covers, and then you only need a 2' suspension and the 2' body lift to clear the 33s. If you really want to do some serious rock crawling, you might want to look into a SFA swap. You could easily fit 33s with a D35 or a D44 on leafs or coils if you wanna spend some more $$. Then you wouldnt have to deal with the relatively weak IFS setup on these. With a Jeep front end swap, and a spring over axle in the rear, youd be looking at ~4-5' of lift. Prettyyyy :D |

Thank you. I am lucky. One of the guys from an Xterra forum posted that he saw it go by him this afternoon on the back of a flatbed truck going thru Lancaster. State farm said they were taking it out to the Philadelphia area. I think I would have lost it if I had to see it again....like that. The reason I posted the link instead of a picture is because I can't stand looking at it....breaks my heart!!!
Thank you for the great information! I have a friend that's lifting his ZR2 Blazer. He wheeled that thing the first time I wheeled my Xterra (bone stock). He has got a nasty-cool toyota trail rig that he wheels while he is doing the work to his ZR2. THAT is a nice looking Blazer. But looking thru here at all the pics of the Blazers that look like mine and are nicely modified....well, it definitely made me a little more excited about my newly acquired ride. Thanks for your help! |

Thanks! Seeing that I can make my Blazer look wicked has certainly perked up my mood! You guys have some nice looking rigs.
I definitely go the way of 6" lift, cutting metal, 33's and some SAS! I'll wait till it's paid for before busting out the cutters though! |
