2002 extreme ?'s
I pick up my (new to me) 2002 Extreme today that has 108,000 mile. Interested to know what would be suggested for gas mileage improvement? Cold air inductions, K&N filters Flowmaster exaust are somethings I've read about but often may only give a mpg improvement which takes a long time to offset cost. I know, keep my foot out of the accelerator.
Anyway, seems that there is a lot of expertise here and there may not be a pat answer. Thought I'd ask.

Welcome from New York. For fuel mileage a good tune up is a place to start, remove any extra weight and, check tire pressures are a good place to start.

Welcome from Minnesota Bruce. In my experience good MPGs = good maintenance. Though replacing the stupidly huge stock mufflers with a nice straight through muffler will help. I replaced mine with a glasspack. Now I have a hard time keeping my foot out of it. She just sounds so nice. lol Though on my trips to ISU I can get 21-22 doing 70-80mph.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I've been thinking about the FLOWMASTER MUFFLER, had one on my early Chevy 1500's. Loved that sound! Ordered a K&N air filter today, would like the cold air induction but don't like the price. Just filled my first tank so will run two or three and see what I get.
