Default Blazer climate control issue

Hello. I am having an issue with my new 2025 Blazer. I was hoping someone on this forum might be able to assist, or at least confirm the issue. I have a hard time believing that after Chevy selling “a million?” cars that I’m the only one that noticed this? Sorry, this post is so long but there is a lot to be said.

The Problem: The A/C compressor is running when it is not supposed to be – almost all the time!

The A/C button is off

The Auto button is off

The Defroster is off

So, the compressor should not be running, but it is, and blowing cold air into the car.

The compressor runs regardless of the inside or outside air temperature.

If the temperature dial is turned-up to a higher level, the compressor clutch will disengage and only heat is passed thru the vent. When the dial is lowered again, the compressor clutch reengages and cold air is passed.

-It acts like the system is stuck in AUTO mode –

I took it to the dealer for service. They told me that after spending the entire day looking at things, by 3 different techs, that the best they could figure is that “it’s supposed to do that”.

I argued that “off means off”, not do what-ever it wants to do regardless of the button selections, but they said there was nothing they could do.

So, my questions to anyone reading this is: Does anyone else have this issue/symptom? Is this actually the way GM designed the system to work? Is there some place other than the dealer that I can report this issue?

Note, this is my first Blazer, but isn’t my first Chevy (or other brand – Fords, Pontiac, and Dodge mostly) and NONE of the other cars I have owned did this. I have owned 17 cars, all purchased brand new and have over 1 million miles on the road, so you got me why buttons now work different.

My other car I currently own is a 2020 Chevy Traverse. It has exactly the same climate control buttons and works normally. All the buttons turn-on/off like you would expect.

Examples:

If I just want the car to have no A/C or heat, like if I have the windows open, I don't want the A/C running but it is.

Or, say it's 65 degrees outside and I have the temperature set at LO to simply supply outside air thru the vents, the A/C is still on and blowing very cold air into the car.

Does anyone have an input to add that might help?

Thanks.
