Unhappy Dying when slowing way down & stopping

My 2001 Blazer (4.3 4x4) is dying when I slow way down and /or come to a stop. If I throw it in neutral it starts right back up with no problems but still will die when slowing or stopping.
A little background; A couple months ago I needed gas and a friend told me she had a little in a gas can but wasn't sure of the quality as it had been sitting for a while. I told her I was willing to risk it. Immediately after I had her put the gas in it was unfortunately involuntarily incarcerated. During this time nobody could get my truck to start. Cut to me getting out 6 weeks later and I can't get it to start either. So I assumed it was the bad gas. I bought a new fuel pump but being strapped for cash had to use the old sending unit. Got bad gas out,gas tank wiped out and the pump changed. and it started finally but ran choppy as hell. My ol man told me to check the plugs, so I got new ones and replaced those and wires. Ran better but still not well enough to drive . I ran the OBDII Scanner on it and it's throwing a p0300 code. Im still figuring it was working the bad gas out of the lines. Was told to check the fuel filter, which I did after I had to cut it off due to the bolt being seized up on it. But there was some nasty shiz that came out of old filter!! I installed new filter& was sure that my problem would be solved by doing this considering all the gunk that came out of old one. Well, it's still running the exact same way and dying when I stop and slow down!! And still giving me the p0300 code. My question is .... WHAT DO I DO NOW?! I mean what should I check next?! I'm doing all this myself with little to no cash, I have to have my truck running so I can get back to work!! Please help!!

I'm not sure what is going on. I can only suggest checking easy stuff like making sure everything is connected properly and that key components are in good condition. Examples of things to check are the rotor and cap and if there are any hoses to the intake that have vacuum leaks or are not connected. If you do find the rotor and cap in bad or questionable state, then only replace with GM versions.
