Hello

I am new here, hence the post in the new members area. I have a 1986 GMC Jimmy, full size. At the moment it has a 4" suspension lift and a 3" body lift with 35" tires, a 350 cu. in. with a mild cam upgrade, dual plane Edelbrock intake and Edelbrock carb, and I also put in a 12 bolt rear diff. with a posi unit. My next upgrade will be a 454 which led me here to seek any advice I can get about doing the engine swap and what sort of problems I may run into so I can be prepared.

That's why I joined too! I'm slapping a built 496 BBC in my K5. Lets start a build thread together so we can help eachother out! That would be cool with pics and stuff :icon_headbang:

Welcome to the forum. Have any pics of your K5 to share? I'm looking forward to seeing your build and swap.

I will take a few pics of mine, but at the moment it isnt anything to look at, LOL I live in Wisconsin so I have spent a lot of time and money fixing all the rotted out sections. I have replaced the rear floorpan, tailgate, rocker panels, doors, front floor pan pieces. Only thing I have left is fenders, radiator support, and some patch work under the windshield in the cowl area. I have owned the truck for 18 years and was my daily driver for most of those. When I replaced the camshaft I had to cut a vertical support on the radiator support, who would have thought there wouldn't be enough room with so much room in the engine compartment. Anyway, I will take some pics of my truck as it is now and of the running 454 I pulled out of a 1977 Suburban that had a factory towing package. I paid $300 for the truck 13 years ago and drove it 3 hours back home with the mice that were living in it, I also had to cap off a brake line at the proportioning valve before I drove it home cuz it was leaking, so it was pretty fun driving on the highway with only front brakes.
