Hello from Georgia
Hi folks,
I'm Joe and I just found this place trying to learn a bit. My dad bought a two tone blue K5 blazer in 87 with a 305 in it. It sat dying for the last 10 or 12 years in SC until he gave it to me last week. I went and drained the fuel, fluids, rebuilt the TBI, added a battery and changed plugs and it fired up.
Its going to need a LOT of work to restore it but the body is in good shape with a few dime sized rust spots and faded paint and the interior will need a dash cover, etc... However I loved this truck since he bought it when I was in high school and he used it to pull my toyota truck out of the mud!
Plan for now is to get the 305 running well enough to drive it around town while I build a 350 block into something a bit more robust than the 270hp Chevy gave it. Eventually I want to restore it pretty much back to new state and have at least 350rwhp.
I look forward to learning much from the forum. BTW I am certainly not much of a wrench but im going to use this project to learn so be patient if I ask something very stupid because I'm sure I will! (I do know how to use the search function however)

Well, this project is going to kill my wallet, that's for certain...
found a 350 block- $100.00 (minus the $40 I made selling the intake and carb), dropped it off at the machine shop so i'm waiting on a price for getting the block prepped to go 383 and crank, cam, etc...
Bought a set of Brodix Aluminum heads today... that hurt! $1200.00
And it begins...
