Talking hey from wisconsin

hey to all! In a nut shell here is my situation, I had bought a 2000 blazer zr-2 about 2 months ago an all an all its pretty good. until, now was cruising down the road doing about 70 and check engine light comes on. Next, the engine spitting and sputtering and eventually i pull over and it dies! Get out and do a walk around searching for the any culprits, no such luck. Climb back in and try to start and motor jumping around and "chuggin" but never fires. So heres comes the money truck (tow truck i say money cuz it was $140 for ten mile tow! wow!) Anyways get it back to the house, put code reader on it, gives me the random multiple mis-fire p0300 code which i figured it would be. I got a few buddies who are mechanics, and have had mixed opinions on what the issues "could" be, from plugged cat, to fuel injection issues etc... Question being this; where do i start? I consider myself very mechanically inclined and usually do my own work on vehicles, but i am in no way a mechanic.

thanks for any responses- Dang zr-2

Welcome to the forum from Canada!

Please review the rules and all stickies on the different boards. You would see that tech questions belong in the appropriate tech board . Please do a quick search for your problem, and if you don't find you answer then feel free to post it in the right board. This one is for intro's only. If you're having code problems a good place to look is the DTC board...found here: https://blazerforum.com/forum/diagnostic-trouble-codes-dtcs-49/

welcome from your southern neighbor !!! as for a multiple misfire code there are about 100 different things it could be, as where to start, start with the easiest/cheapest checks/parts possible. good luck!

look into this:
pull the plugs and have a look-see.
stupid but, have you checked the fuel level
flugged fuel filter wouldn't cause misfire, but would cause the same drive conditions.
my cat was a lump of coal, but my truck never died... couldn't hurt to check out the cat though.
you could also take a peek at your cap/rotor/distributor...

GL and keep us posted as you check and see more. there are a bunch of knowledgable people floating around here, but like Sisk said, if you want the best shot at help, post up in the tech boards.
