new to blazers, new to this forum *READ*
 

Hey guys i never really thought i would be caught driving a blazer, i sold my truck last week and was looking for stuff today and saw a blazer that was a KILLER deal that i could not pass up. Its a 1997 LT ( 4 door ) ):
not 1 spot of rust ( rare for Michigan ) and 170k on it with a new Jasper tranny.
The guy said the wiring was shot bc the blinker wouldnt work well all i did was cracked open the dashboard and switched the relays around WALA blinkers are workin.
One question whats the first upgrade i should do for around 200 bucks? i want it to look less Grandpa ish hard to do on a 4 dr but just seeing if anyone has any good ideas.

Personally I've never been a fan of the wrap around+fender trim on those Blazers. Could probably remove and/or black it out. Or if you want to keep some of the trim, removing the wheel arch chrome trim would probably help
But that's just a personal thing, ultimately its up to you.

When you say upgrade, and less grandpaish you're saying you want a visual change correct?

I was just thinking about that right before i saw your post. I will probally black them out, thanks for the pic man. Yea visual change for now...might lift it eventually and when i get into the engine i might to CAI or just some minor stuff. Hoping this blazer just lasts me through high school

If you were to black out the wheel arches I would just continue and do the rest of the trim. Looks just a bit odd to me with just the wheel arches blacked out. But, like tenorsaxdude said, it's all up to you.

Yes, north Michigan. I've had my Jimmy since high school and now almost out of college and its still serving me well.
Great vehicles for this part of the country to be honest. They are the right size, and will punch through just about anything northern Michigan will throw at it

Ultimately your car is your baby to do with what you wish. I see plenty of guys that lift them, mod them, run them into the ground, as well as upkeep them. Plenty of great choices out there though especially for the Blazer trim. Jimmy and Bravadas require a tad more hunting or slight modifications to get certain aspects to work. And in other cases its an exact fit.

For the most part I'd place my vehicle under the upkeep/update category since I have no interest in lifting it or doing anything to major under the hood. I have however updated the radio head unit to touch screen navigation (pictures in my build thread) and have parts on order and or waiting to be installed for a front end update.

As for lasting through high school, assuming it doesn't get wrecked, and nothing major breaks (money I know is a huge limitation there), they are good cars to tinker on over the weekend and in the evenings, parts are easy to come by, and I've had fun learning their little quirks and such, but I think that is what makes these cars stand out to me.
