New member with a 1998 Chevy Blazer LS
Hi everyone. I'm a relatively new Blazer owner in Seattle. I picked up a 1998 Blazer LS in May as a project car. I had never worked on a vehicle of any kind before -- not even an oil change. I had been meaning to get a 4WD vehicle so I thought it was good way to conserve some cash and a good time to learn some automotive basics.
So far I've done the following to it:
I've also done several oil changes along the way. I've taken care of most of the mechanical issues at this point, but there is a huge list of items I still want to get to. This forum has been an invaluable source of information and inspiration.
Out of all of the service items I listed above I found the brake booster replacement to be the most tedious and difficult. I ended up taking apart the interior dash assembly, steering column bracket, and ABS unit just to install the replacement. I'd actually like to share a write-up I made about it (with photos), but I found I could not post to the "Tech Article (DIY)" section. Is it because I'm still a new poster?
So far I've done the following to it:
- replaced both the oil cooling lines
- replaced the transfer case shift motor
- flushed the cooling system
- replaced the front bumper cover
- replaced bump stops between the upper and lower control arms
- replaced the brake booster (a.k.a power brake/vacuum assist)
- replaced the upper and lower ball joints
