Newbie from Sacramento CA - 85 S10 4x4

Hi All,

My name is Greg and I live in Sacramento California. On March 1st, I bougth my black 1985 S10 Blazer, V6 2.8 L 5 Speed manual transmission for $300 bucks with brown interior, power door locks and power windows. It would start but not move. The body was in great shape, never in an accident, no dents, no dings.

I had it towed to a tranny shop and had the tranny rebuild by Tom at Transmissions Only and a new clutch put in, and the bell housing welded becuase it was cracked.

Then drove it down the street to Quality Tune Up where it failed the SMOG test as a Gross Pulleter due to a bad EGR sensor, Oxygen sensor, and bad catalytic converter.

So I drove it further down a street to a fantastic muffler shop where Mike at Firehouse Mufflers installed a custom exhaust, similar to the one he built for his wife, who had a similar S10 just newer 4.3 L.

Drove it back to Quality Tune Up where it re tested and passed the SMOG test flying colors.

As I write this the Blazer is at Mc Culley Brothers (down the street from my work) where they are trying to figure out where my coolant is disappearing to, as I don't see any drips under the car... waiting to hear what they find.

Current Mission: Black it all out, I am replacing all the chrome with black plastic or steel, mirrors, bumpers, rims, fender flares, door handles, etc. As well as the brown interior will be replaced with black interior.

I find this site very helpful, thank you all, and hope to contribute as well as I repair things that I can repair.

This is what my 1985 Chevy Blazer S10 V6 2.8 L looked like when I first bought it for $300 bucks back in March 2008.
