mods to 2.8?

anyone still run the old 2.8 with some new mods? or am i just wasting time tryin to revive this ol engine??

There are a lot of people that are still into the old 60 degree v6 engines.

But I wouldn't mess with it.

well its the current engine im runnin, and i got a buddy with a 350 but he hasnt given me a price on it yet, so im gonna start out with what i got already, and well its a 2.8 4x4 gutless little machine for the time being, im lookin for ideas to free up hp wherever i can and add to it. but i'm not entirely sure what year the engine is, place i bought the vehicle from says its a swapped engine from a rolled s10 bout the same age as the rest of the rig.

Most people swap over to the larger 3.4L v6 that was found in the Camaro around the same period. But if you are thinking about swapping the engine, go to a v8!

actually just thinking about the 3.4 swap, i got a buddy with a 96 camaro 5spd with the 3.4, but my other buddy with the 350 has it all taken apart already and sittin in his garage, all i'd need is a transmission and all the rest of the goodies to make it work, i hear the 2.8 mounts are stronger than the 4.3 mounts, and i hear its supposed to mount up nice. but i really like the gas mileage im supposed to be gettin, this is my daily driver and only means of transportation besides the old toe and heel. and its proving to be a hassle anyways since the day i bought it sometime in sept or oct i barely scraped 3000 miles outta it before it started leakin oil all over hell. i think i'd like to tear the whole thing apart and rebuild it for some real performance, cause right now, after 3rd gear i might as well take a nap, cause i wont be havin any fun

You could do some mods to free up some power, but the motor is gutless, and it would be pointless to do because It probably won't even break 130hp unless you do some serious work to it. They make about 110hp stock. I like the idea of the 3.4, and I hope you have some luck finding a V8 for that truck. That'd be sick!

Sounds like a small 2.8 with a mild cam that needs the timing worked on.

I like my 3.4 just fine

Need to get some pics up with the headers on it and I fixed the air cleaner stud.

Whatcha wanna know about 60 degrees? The 3.4 swap HP is within 5 HP and 10 ft lbs or torque of the 4.3. My 3.4 blazer sitting on 31s and 3.73 gears gets better mileage than my buddy's zr2 with a 4.3 and 3.73s. His is all stock and mine has a 3 inch BL with almost 300lbs of steel bumpers on it.

The 2.8 mounts are a much better design than the 4.3. The 2.8 will hold up to a v8 swap while the 4.3 mounts wont hold up to a 4.3.

Gas mileage in a v8 swap can be better than any v6 if you keep your foot out of it and keep the fuel injection. I actually plan on putting a v8 in my blazer and using this 3.4 in my truck but only cause I wanna get a bit more hardcore 4x4.
