best brand new tire??

Alright guys like the title says, whats the best brand new tire if you were buying new??

I'm thinking because i do an awful lot oh highway commit coming home from school i want an all terrain like the Bfg all terrain, or possibly something else.....so that being said can you give me your take on what tires i should buy...

Also looking for a good priced tire thats not going to break the bank completely. oh and they have to come in at least a 33, thats my size....

xgiovannix12 03-10-2012 01:10 PM

i always wanted to try these

good year duratracs
Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac

they got a lot of good reviews and a few members use them

atvwarrior 03-10-2012 02:00 PM

Agreed , I like the Goodyear wranglers . It would either be them or copper , I had a set of them on my old blazer and I never got stuck , actually the coppers where the best traction tire I have ever bought , besides the super swamper's .

I went with pepboys Definity Dakota A/T2's. I think they are running their buy 3 get one free special again right now, so that would definitely cut the cost down. I like 'em. Even though they are pepboy's brand, they are actually made by cooper. And cooper makes good tires so you can put 2 and 2 together. Just my .02.

Only thing to watch out for is the thinner sidewall. As long as you aren't rock crawling you should be fine though.

PlanB4x4 03-11-2012 07:05 PM

thanks guys for the import I'm going to take all that into consideration when i buy my tires this month.

xgiovannix12 03-11-2012 07:33 PM

what are you gonna get?

AJBert 03-11-2012 09:46 PM

I'd go with the diamond encrusted tires with the 100% kevlar tread. The rocks don't tear up these tires, the tires tear up the rocks!

Price has not been set yet on them but should be out shortly.

I vote the Goodyear DuraTracs.

Spoiler alert but i have them on my truck IN 31's now ;) and i absolutely love them. Very quiet on the road, and they corner well.

(my build thread soon to come)

xgiovannix12 03-11-2012 10:11 PM

ID like to see them in 31s i hope to see pictures =)

duxtoyz 03-11-2012 11:43 PM

interco iroks radials.......

Rottidog 03-12-2012 09:39 AM

BFG KM2's & they come in a 33 x 10.5 which will give you the height you want & a narrower tire for highway mpg's.
They're a great all around tire - look up reviews.

Goodyears have a good tread pattern but wear out quickly in my experience...

I have Cooper Discoverer ATRs on my '95 and they seem really nice... my first good experience with Coopers.

On my '87 I have BFG Commercial All Weathers. Not great for traction, but it's a 7000 lb 4x4 Suburban. They are pretty tough... very long wearing tires. I'd get them again.

I've got Hankooks DynaPros on my '98 Subby, and they are good for traction, but the wear is unacceptable. Way too soft.

I'd say Cooper or BFG.

I went with the Goodyear wrangler silent Armour 265/70/R16.
Like them so far about 5000km and they are quiet as stock on highway IMO.
Also they are winter rated so that is nice.

Would recommend them and by them myself again.

PlanB4x4 03-12-2012 08:39 PM

Thanks again fella's, I'm leaning towards Bfg Km2's and All terrains at the moment because of the fact that they come in 33 10.5 15, but still considering other options, thank you again for all the responses.

PlanB4x4 03-12-2012 08:41 PM

.....and just to let those know I'm selling my 5 tsl radials if anyone wants a good off road tire they are 33 12.5 15, pm me if you are interested or know someone who is.

PlanB4x4 03-12-2012 09:59 PM

anyone have dunlop Mud rover's....there is a set on cl with 100 miles on them for 600...think about going for them

Matthew_Winchester 03-15-2012 12:26 PM

Goodyear Wrangler Territory from Canadian Tire! The very best off road tire I have had yet, I'm running a set of 31X10.5 R15, stock height 96 Jimmy ( jimmy - blazer their all the same) don't get stuck, I have hauled F150's and jeep yj's and everything in between. Love my Jimmy!! I'm going to be doing a SOA lift soon, going to go up to 33 X 12.50 R15. I will buy the same tires again!!

PlanB4x4 03-16-2012 06:17 PM

PlanB4x4 03-21-2012 04:00 PM

But yeah i like it, thanks man.

tibby 03-21-2012 07:31 PM

.

Dang Plan, that truck is definitely lookin' spiffy! I like it! lol.

On a side note, for anyone looking for tires right now, Pepboys has another special going on. Buy 3 Definity tires and get the 4th one for a buck ($1) INSTANTLY!

Good deal imo, this should include Definity's highway tire, their A/T tires (What I have), and even their M/T tires. Just a heads up.
