DD and ORV set

I was wondering about this. I know it's probably a little unorthodox, but has anyone ever had two sets of tires at once. One set for DD and another for off roading? I was thinking about keeping my DD set, and get an off road set to put in the back for when I do go out.

So, basically, I'll have my set of road tires on, on the way to the place to off road at, with my off road set in the back or on a little trailer. Then, once I get there, take my off road set and mount em, and have fun, then back to the road tires after done.

Just a thought. Your comments are appreciated.

I don't think its strange. I want to get a set of TSL's and mount them on some factory spare steel wheels painted in hammer tone.

I think a lot of people do that. get some nice a/t's or all weathers on some nice looking rims that ride nice on the road and will perform half decent off road, and then get a set of M/T's or swampers on a set of steelies to do the real hardcore stuff. I was thinking about doing this if I had more money...

I think it would make sense. Think about it. You have your m/t's on a little flatbed trailer that you tow to your destination. Once there, take about 20 minutes to get the m/t's on, and then go have fun. Once done, put the road tires back on. The road tires will offer better gas mileage than the mudders, and last up to 5 times longer (I have 50,000 mile tires, where as I have seen some M/T tires only have 10,000 mile).

Yeah, I've seen a lot of people do that it would be no different than having 2 sets of tires on a track car DD and slicks.

autocrossers and track day people do this all the time. It is my plan to at least get two more wheels and run MTs on the rear.

Been doing it for a few years now, though I throw my blazer on my car trailer and tow it up to CO when I go hunting up there. Otherwise, I keep my M/T's on during hunting season down here and A/T's for the rest of the year.
