Northwest OHV Park, 2-23-19

Myself a few friends (with jeeps... yuck) are heading to Bridgeport, TX this Saturday for some wheeling. If anyone is local to DFW and wants a group to wheel with, y'all are welcome to come!

Well, between the traction of 10.5" boggers, and the torque of the mighty 4.3L vortec, something had to give. Turned out that the cv on the tcase end of the front driveshaft wasn't up to the task, and decided to expire.

Unfortunately, it was at the bottom of a steep rocky hill, and I couldn't get back up in 2wd. So I was shamefully dragged up by the jeep.

But I had my redemption, when he tried to get through a mud hole, and drowned his distributor. Never could get it restarted, so I had to drag him to the trailer

Casualty of war.... how did she feel?

cleburne red 02-23-2019 07:49 PM

Honestly, I didn't even know till my friends started yelling at me that neither front wheel were spinning trying to go back up the hill.

Fortunately it laid right on a cross member, and didn't flop around

Oops!

Lift felt fine. I beat on it moderately hard (I don't have to drive it to work, but I preferred it make it home. That's the level of beating it got lol) and it held up. Much less impacts to the underside.

I was really impressed with the boggers! Mud holes that I had to mob through at a high rate of speed in 4wd last time, I gently eased through in 2wd this time. They were worth every penny!

The joys of modifying any vehicle. Build up one part and the next weakest part will break. Fix that and so on and so forth lol.

You got that right!

Trying to convince the old lady to let me part with $525 for this beauty

I know cv axles are gonna be the next weak link. Wish I had a source for heavy duty ones

That's a nice piece of hardware. I've been trying to find some heavy duty CV shafts but no luck yet.
