Pulled out of the ditch by a Jeep

Yep. I was driving home from work. Narrow, twisty road. Difficult driving conditions. Met a big bus just around a corner. Neither of us had any problems stopping, but there was no way to get past. I could have backed up a bit, and the road would have been wide enough, but I was afraid to get rear-ended by any cars that might come behind me. Road was icy, with rain on it, and visibility bad. And I was lazy.

So I put her in the ditch. Just the right hand wheels, no problems. Bus approaches, but a bit close, so I drive further into the ditch. Ditch is suddenly a lot deeper than I thought.. Bus gets past and drives off.

Um. Snap. This is Norway, so I found my right tires in about 4 ft of heavy snow. Left front tire in a bit less snow, and one rear wheel on the icy road. Tires are studded, but old and worn.

Well, long story made short, I couldn't drive out. I got forwards and backwards, but not out. A guy in a van tried to push a bit. Didn't do any good.

So a dude in a Cherokee comes along. I have a tow strap in the boot, he helps pull me, and I'm out. Thank you, dear Jeeper.

Now, in all fairness, I could've gotten out by myself, given some time, but there were a few cars waiting and it was a quick solution. Sorry. Won't happen again..

hey no worries man. pretty much same thing happened to me, but instead of snow it was mud. i was backing up off a dirt road we were just driving on when it ended. as i was backing up my buddy failed to mention i was backing up into the field, and when he did say something i was axel deep in really wet mud. now i totally forgot about my 4 low, but 4 high didnt help so i had my buddy in his cherokee pull me out. though it didnt help that i was so far on this back road we were miles form the closest paved road, and kind of the place where a horror movie would start.

I would never begrudge any person that is willing to help me out, reguardless of the vehicle they drive. I've helped out my fair of folks to get out of a sticky situation and all I got was gratitude from them. I haven't needed help yet but I'm sure that day will come.

Are you sure the Dodge isn't pulling the Geo backwards? :icon_teeth:
