Rausch Creek Trip 1/21/2012 [Lots of Pics]
Here are some pics from my recent trip to Rausch Creek Off Road Park with our winter beater. Took forever for us to get there in the snow (130 miles) but it was well worth the trip. We spent a good 5 1/2 hours on the trails and covered over 40 miles. Had a great time!
We took the "Off Roading 101 Course" even though I had been off the beaten path a few times before. It was more than worth it, as the guide had lots of great tips, knew the fun areas to visit in the park, and really pushed everyone to really test their vehicles. There were a few things we crossed that I would have never tried if I was on my own. Nor did I think my little winter truck could do have of the things I saw it do. My blazer is a 1994 S10 Tahoe, with the "W" engine. I haven't done anything to it, past changing to an "All-Terrain" tire. http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0932.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0865.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0855.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0919.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0928.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0930.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0911.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0900.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0885.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0874.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0873.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0871.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/DSCN0866.jpg |
That is beautiful, I wish I could find a place like this in Wisconsin. Looks like a ton of fun.

Nice , that looks like it was frickin awesome . It is amazing the places these little blazers will go , especially when you know how to place your wheels and use throttle control . How many trucks were in your group ? Did anyone get stuck ? And just one more , were there any other s10s ?

There were only 9 trucks in the group (probably because of the snow): TJ wrangler 90's Toyota Tundra w/ small lift and highway tires 06 Toyota 4Runner w/ highway tires JK wrangler 2dr JK wrangler 2dr JK wrangler 4dr w/ small lift and sway-bar disconnect 00's Jeep Cherokee w/ 4" lift and Mud Terrains Me in my S10 (the only one out there) JK wrangler 4dr The truck that led me out to meet the group (we were a little late) was a 94 Grand Cherokee with around 8-10" of lift, no doors, no exhaust, and just one seat. Was a really neat rig. As for getting stuck, we had one point where the front right and rear left tires came off the ground, and we got hung up for a second just spinning. After a couple rocks back and forth it landed one of the tires and we were able to get moving again. Never had to get pulled out or even get out of my truck to take a look. Some of the other trucks had some trouble. The tundra and 4runner were on highway tires that look like they don't even belong on a snowy road. They ended up having to back up and try again at most of the big hills, but surprisingly never needed a tow. The Cherokee managed to hit a deep mud rut and get stuck enough to require a pull-out. One of the JKs was happy enough to pull him back, and on the second try he made it right through. |

Next time I'll have to post a little in advance when I'm heading out there, so maybe a few more S10s can join in. The fiance had a really great time, and wants to go back again soon. I'll have to keep my eyes out for a good-weather day next time. 130 miles of highway in the snow just sucked.

One day I will get there.
