Just bought a recovery strap today. 20' and 27,000 lbs plus 2 4 3/4 shackles to boot.

Strap. I've used chains, but I prefer strap.

when you got a one man convoy you gotta use a come along, i use all 3 of them. rope to tie on to the truck ( i take crab rope and triple it, next i take my come along and put it in the middle, then i take my chain and use a shackle to tie on to a tree or what ever i can find and get the truck out. never had the rope or chain break(knock on wood) you may say its hillbilly but i belive function over fashion.

I like my chain. Big ole tractor pullin chain. Rated to 50,000 lbs. The only thing I like better was an old tug boat pull rope bigger around than my head. It had 120000 lb rating. I've seen straps snap and break windows and grills so they may be safer but not safe

Chain, I've had many straps break on me!:icon_doh:
i use both =P
i always end up using a chain because when we use a strap it snaps
i use straps chains, ropes, come along, d-rings, snatch blocks, ect bc when im stuck it takes me hours to get out bc i get ****in in there where no one can get to me
Both. When using my hi lift chains. Straps for pulling jeeps out as long as I have enough. But I get 3/8 dot approved chains or stronger
