Went offroading again.. :(
I broke both outer tie rods, and the front drive shaft... But it was still fun. Here are some pics that were taken...

How'd you get her home?
|
Fortunately my grandma was going right by the trail entrance to see some family, and brought me new tie rods. I just removed the drive shaft till I get another one tomorrow.
|
Now why did you do that? lol
Actually, I want to hear HOW you did that. I imagine it involved a hard front impact of some sort? |
We dont actually know how it happened. I think I might have damaged the tie rods 2 weeks ago at lavant. The drive shaft has been going for months. I thought the axles were on the way out, but today I realized it was the drive shaft.... and found out the hard way...
What I think may have happened, is when going to go up the rock, my drive shaft snapped then when I hit the rocks, instead of going over the rocks, the tires hit then. The rocks pushed the rims/tires in, then the tie rod bent then snapped. Ill take pics of the tie rods tomorrow. |
That sucks. At least you now have an excuse to fix it all.

Now im looking for Dana 44's for a SFA swap... |
:icon_woot: Sucks that you busted her up but any thing that ends in a Dana is good in my book. Why not go dana 60 and swap the rear for a corporate 14 while you're under there... :icon_wink:
still sucks your down but at least it was having fun and not some dumbass on a cell that got you.... |
44's will be more then enough for me. Ill save the 60's for a buggy when I build one. I drove it home. Nothing will keep it off the road...lol... I even have a spare engine sitting at my shop just in case... over 300 000km on this one. Compression, oil pressure, performance are all still great. The engine I have as a back up has 120 000km.
I even filled the intake in a puddle on time on the trails. Pulled #1,2,and 3 plugs, and fired her right up!!! |
