Z71 coils work on our blazers?
 

I managed to get my hands on z71 coils, and shocks and I was wondering if they will fit to the blazer frame. So if any of you know i would like to know. I remember reading something about this but i dont remember where i read it at.

where are you thinking of putting them? 2wd?

Ya, thats all i got. Its only for the front, i think that i have heard of someone else doing this before.

06 and older used t-bars and leaf springs

07 and newer uses struts and leaf springs.

You gonna try to use springs designed to be used with a strut in place of your coils? I can't see that working, safe, or a good idea.

I've never heard of using Z71 springs. I put early 70s Chevelle coils in my old S10. I cut 1 wrap off the coil so it lowered the truck a couple inches, stiffened the ride and supported the V8 better.

He said he has a 2WD. They have shocks and coils in front and shocks and leafs in the back.

He's asking if z71 coils will fit in his 2wd. Since z71 is a 4x4 rpo code most commonly used on fullsize GMs (and some 4x4 s-series for a limited time) I looked up the front suspensions of fullsizes (since I know all s-series 4x4s used t-bars). All z71s used t-bars until the latest gen and gm swapped to struts. So I stand by what I said if he's trying to put coils designed for a strut system I can't see it working, being safe, or a good idea to even try.


I had forgot the Colorado also came with the Z71 package but after research, it also uses a strut front suspension and I say the same about using those.

there are 2 z71s, one was a type of spring that came in the front of old full sized cars. there is also the rear coils on a few z71 suspension package trucks and suvs... Tahoe avalanche etc. i assume its the old car ones?

This I got to see.If i could get rid of my rear leaf1s It would be done zippidy.

ok I did forget about the coil springs on the rear of the suvs. I guess it wouldn't take too much to use them as overloads over the leaf spring rear, will be a rough ride. If he talking about converting the rear to 4 link I guess that could be done, still way too stiff for a blazer. Trying to fit them in the front I don't see happening.


I did find out 'rados did have a rare coil spring z71 option. Rare enough not everybody makes lift kits and pretty hard to find info on. If this is the springs in question they just might work. Don't see any real gains in them.


Not saying they don't exist but I grew up working on A, B, G, H, and X bodies and have never heard of z71 front springs for them. Can't even find any info online about them.
