2001 Chevy Blazer LS Black Boarder Around Top of rear side windows Question

I need to find a way to restore that black boarder above the big rear side windows because it's supposed to be smooth and mine is pitted, also I just bought this Blazer less then a month ago, and it is a 2001 Chevy Blazer LS 4.3L 2dr 2wd, so being the blazer community I would think somebody here knows some way to restore that black boarder and make it smooth again and look shiny like maybe some really fine sandpaper or something any help would be appreciated, I've just joined the community and this is my first post

Body filler and sand, then paint. Pretty much the only way to get it done.

I sanded 80, 150, 220 grit. Then prime, mostly to see if I missed any spots, which I went back and smoothened out. then used Black Bumper and Trim spray. Came out pretty good. Use a lot of newspapers for masking or maybe a fan to keep the black dust off the rest of the car.

Now I'm thinking I'll give it a coat of blue, to match the rest of the car. Can I just give the Black Bumper&Trim a sanding and spray, or should I prime first?
