So I got hit from behind by a jeep today. I was making a left turn and then had to stop because a pedestrian entered the crosswalk. The result is that my rear bumper will need to be replaced. An initial inspection by me has me thinking it is pretty much a remove and replace situation.
Before I dig into it, are there any things I should be aware of regarding taking it off and putting one back on? With being hit, should I just let a shop do it? (It was the other person's fault.) Are there any rear bumper upgrades I might consider given this opportunity to replace the bumper?
I am beginning to like the Jimmy / euro flat top rollpan, but she dinked your corner too yucky.
I had to look this up and found an example. Yes, I kind of like the Euro version of the rear bumper too. But I've tried to see about getting this place to ship parts to the US but they won't.
I've seen some on American Jimmy's specifically but I haven't had the heart to beg someone for theirs yet LOL. mine is starting to rust out so the flat hitch pan is the delaminating.
Oh christine, I am also have scratch but not bent last week when I change my lane and some one come fast and he hit my car in same place (rear bumper extension)
I think this is bad year for our jimmy's and blazer's. lol
I would change it myself, a shop would over charge for the work. And it's fairly easy.
I have seen some nice after market bumper for s10s, but haven't seen as nice ones for 2nd gen blazers.
I'd definitely do it myself but I'm not having much free time this semester (I'm a professor). But I know I'll at least have to have it painted which I cannot do very well.
I get the no time. It would be a good practice tho. It doesnt take much time to do the swap either if you got time on a saturday morning. I wonder what a shop would charge for a prep and paint. Were you able to find much on the aftermarket bumpers?

I wish I had the time to do it. Even a Saturday morning is a no go for me at the moment.
The truck is drivable so perhaps i could have the replacement prepped and painted for me and I could install it later. I have no idea how much I might save though as the adfitionsl labor in the shop would be the easy unbolt, bolt-on part.
